National Youth Anti-Violence Champions

As part of our nationwide bid to create social change in order to help end violent behaviour within our communities, we have created the national youth ‘Anti-Violence Champions’ initiative. Designed specifically to change the way that children and young people perceive violence, we are asking every host location to help us by deputising a minimum of 10,000 children and young people to renounce violence as a means of solving disputes, issues and disagreements. We hope that this initiative will further unite our young people and bring us that little bit closer to creating the social change necessary to fully turn the tide on violent and aggressive behaviour.

What does it mean to be a youth ‘Anti-Violence Champion’?

An ‘Anti-Violence Champion’ is someone who completely renounces violent and aggressive behaviour as a means to solve issues, disputes and difficulties. ‘Anti-Violence Champions’ support the Knife Angel and its educational legacy by standing up against all forms of violent behaviour. They make the conscious decision to solve all problems in a peaceful and non-physical manner. As an ‘Anti-Violence Champion’, you play an integral and extremely important part in the Knife Angel’s journey to create social change.

What do I get if I become an ‘Anti-Violence Champion’?

All ‘Anti-Violence Champions’ will receive a sticker badge and a specially designed certificate to thank them for their efforts in standing up against aggressive behaviour. You also get the honour of knowing that you have played a unique part in making an important change to the way that our society thinks. Every host location will receive a starter pack containing everything they need to help regional youth become ‘Anti-Violence Champions’. This pack includes a number of specially designed sticker badges and certificates for hosting representatives to deputise their community youth.

Who can become an ‘Anti-Violence Champion’?

Whilst this initiative is mainly aimed at school children and young people, anyone who wishes to fully renounce violence is welcome to become an ‘Anti-Violence Champion’. We created the initiative predominantly for young people as we believe that education is at the heart of creating social change, our main objective for the National Youth Anti-Violence Educational Programme and Tour.

How can I become an ‘Anti-Violence Champion’?

If your town or city is currently hosting the Knife Angel, representatives should be present at the monument’s location. These representatives have been issued with ‘Anti-Violence Champions’ starter packs and should be able to deputise you by issuing you with a certificate and sticker badge. If the Angel is not being hosted in your location but you’d still like to become an ‘Anti-Violence Champion’, we are currently in the process of contacting all 43 Police Constabularies across the UK to get as many locations involved as we possibly can. Keep an eye on our social media pages for updates.

If you’d like to find out more about this initiative or if you’d like to start deputising young people within your town or city, please do get in touch with us on 0800 6888386 or info@britishironworkcentre.co.uk. It is our goal to deputise a total of at least 100,000 ‘Anti-Violence Champions’. The higher the number of young people actively renouncing violence as a means to solve issues, the closer we are to reducing the amount of violent and aggressive behaviour that is so prevalent on our country’s streets.
