How do I install Stair Rods (Hinged and Unhinged)?
Fitting your stair rods can be a relatively straightforward process but, should you have any concerns, please do seek the assistance of a qualified contractor/tradesperson. The width of each step may vary slightly, especially with older properties, so we recommend measuring each one before cutting the entire batch of stair rods to a single size.

Should I use hinged or unhinged brackets?
The main advantage of hinged stair rod brackets is that they feature a non-slip pad to help prevent your stair rod moving during staircase use. In addition, using the hinged release screw, the stair rod can be easily removed without having to remove the brackets, making it much easier to clean and vacuum your stairs when required.

What size stair rods do I need?
When choosing the size of the stair rods you require we recommend you leave an overhang of 6.5cm each side of the carpet runner. However, this is only a suggestion and the length of the overhang will ultimately come down to personal aesthetic preference.
Do I need lacquered or non-lacquered stair rods?
Generally, for domestic purposes, lacquered brass fittings are used. As the raw polished brass surface is protected from grease, dust and moisture in the air, you tend to find they remain shiny, only requiring a light dusting from time to time. In the case of unlacquered fittings, the brass will require regular polishing and cleaning but, once cleaned, will offer an unpatrolled colouration and shine.
